Current Children

We have a fantastic number of creative, passionate children who have registered to do J.A.S.S this year! Year 5 and 6 children (also with some Year 7 children from HSLC) will be working towards their bronze (Year 5), silver (Year 6) and gold (Year 7) awards which they should have earned by June 2019 (if they are dedicated and work hard to complete all four sections!)

The Year 5 children have all had First Aid training from two paramedics. Several of the children have now become "First Aid Rangers" or "Playground Rangers" on the EYFS and KS1 playground at lunchtimes where they help younger children. What a lovely thing to volunteer to do!

Why do JASS? What do you gain from doing it?

Here's what some of our current JASS children had to say to these questions ...

"I do JASS because it gets me into different clubs in school and out of school too and I meet different people. I have learnt new skills for example First Aid, sewing and baking. If it wasn't for JASS I wouldn't have done these things at school. I am really looking forward to doing Silver when I am in Year 6. I felt really proud when I received my JASS folder and when I received my Sectional certificates at the front of assembly."

"JASS is good because it helps me do more of what I love doing and it also helps me to teach people what I love doing too. I have been running an art club for other children on a Monday lunchtime as part of my Award."

"I like doing JASS because it makes me more determined to keep doing activities regularly so I can complete each section. Also it makes me want to help my community and children in my school by doing things for them. I did a Bag Pack earlier this year to raise money for charity. I also have a younger "reading buddy" - I listen to her read every week."

"I really like this Award Scheme as I enjoy myself doing lots of new and different clubs and activities. I am looking forward to setting up a club for children at school which will be based on woodwork. My teacher is going to supervise the club but I will be planning and organising it myself. the first thing we will make will be wooden boats."
