Gophers

What are these and why are they important?

At HCPS, we believe fun, rewarding and enriching activities are important for creating the very best memories for our pupils.  You’re only young once!

Cultural capital is the accumulation of knowledge, behaviours and skills that a child can draw upon and which demonstrates their cultural awareness, knowledge and competence. It is one of the key ingredients a child will draw upon to be successful in society, their career and the world of work.  Here at HCPS we aim to enrich the lives of our children by providing memorable experiences and skills beyond their normal day to day learning.  This could be anything from kicking in the Autumn leaves, learning some first aid skills or cooking a dish from another culture.  Have you ever grown a plant from seed, cloud gazed or built a den?  Visited a library, learnt how to reduce, re-use and recycle or learnt how to care for an animal?    If not, go-pher it!

Please view our year group ‘Gopher’ (Go For) tasks below to find out the type of activities and memories we consider valuable to the young lives in our school.
