Year 3

The children have been very busy and have enjoyed their first term in Year 3.

We have been learning about the Stone Age in our History topic and Remembrance in our R.E. lessons.  In PE we have enjoyed Dance with Mrs Simmonite and Tennis with Mrs Worsley.  During our Jigsaw lessons we have been looking at 'belonging'.

Our English work has involved looking at the Stone Age Boy and writing part of our own narrative text.  We have also looked at a variety of poems and instructional texts about Harvest and Halloween.  In Maths the children have settled well into their groups and have been impressing us with their knowledge of Place Value and Addition so far.

Our Library is now open to all pupils and we have loved being able to choose and take home a range of exciting books.  A huge thanks to all who have kindly donated.  Our Year 3 children have been teamed up with Year 6 Reading Buddies.  They are really loving being able to read in a variety of places, especially the new Outdoor Staging area.

Local Artist (and teacher) - Mrs H. Burton - came in to share her Polymer Clay Jewellery making techniques as a stimulus for our D.T. project - designing and making Stone Age Jewellery.

In addition to all of the above, during our Nurture week, we were lucky to have a visit from Hornsea Foundation Community Caravan.  We would like to give a  big thank you to Sid and Kerry for an amazing day.

Finally, Reverend Tina, from St. Nicholas' Church, was really excited to come in to see the children and celebrate our Harvest Festival with us.
