Hornsea Community Primary School
The Orchard Community food to fork project.
The YOR4Good fund Panel has agreed to support this project by providing a
total cash grant of £5,000.00.
Information about the project:
This project will provide opportunity for all of our pupils to grow, cook and eat produce
that they nurture as well as being involved with a local community gardening group so that
they are aware of the importance of community and sustainability. This will provide children
with an opportunity to gain an interest in not only working outside but also preparing, cooking
and serving food which may then create an interest that could lead into a job when they are
older such as catering and hospitality also to grow their own food at home. This will provide
not only mental health and wellbeing through exercise and spending time with others but
also a healthy diet through the produce that we eat. We will learn skills that are life skills that
we can pass onto others. In an ever changing world where we are encouraged to grow and
eat organic and non-packaged food this will provide pupils opportunity's to also take plants
and seeds home, appreciate recycling and plastic free.
We will keep you updated on our Community section of our website so keep looking!
