World Maths Day 2023 - Maths in the Working World

This year, the theme of our Maths Day has been “Maths in the Working World.”  Children learned that there is a lot more to maths than addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.  Whether people enjoy using maths or not, it is all around us.  It is part of our everyday life and is used in a whole variety of jobs -  hairdressing, business owner, footballer, musician, dancer, jewellery designers, game designers, weather presenters, bakers, pharmacists, chefs and so the list goes on!

Throughout the day, children took part in:

  • Treasure Hunts - Shape Dinosaur Hunt (EYFS & KS1) & Famous Mathematicians Hunt (KS2);
  • Estimating Time Challenge Competition;
  • 2D and 3D model making;
  • Shop and Money making;
  • Magic Maths;
  • Pattern Making;
  • Dancing;
  • Parent Demonstrations (Maths within their work roles); and
  • so much more.

A huge thanks to all Volunteers within school during the day!
