3MS Reggae 'Three Little Birds' Instruments in 2 Parts
This Year 3 class worked very hard on improving this piece of music. Their first version was out of time, however, they listened to each other and the music in order to be able to play together in ensemble, in time, without the teacher needing to conduct. They played two different parts at the same time, creating a harmony. They also tried very hard to create a staccato sound on the glockenspiels, without being harsh, to accompany the staccato reggae backing track.
4LM 'Mamma Mia' Instrumental Parts
This Year 4 class did a fantastic job of playing 3 different instrumental parts together to the pop song 'Mamma Mia'! The glockenspiel group needed to count the beats very carefully to just play on beat 1 of each bar, then the keyboard group played the 'Mamma Mia' riff in time with them, whilst the pianist had learnt much of the melody part at home to be able to play that on top. It resulted in a great balanced performance!
6NF Rock 'Livin' on a Prayer' Whole Class Ensemble
Year 6 were so excited to get back on instruments! This class had a pianist and two drummers, therefore they were able to create an ensemble piece without the need for a backing track. The drums kept the music in time, the pianist played the melody on jazz organ, and the rest of the class split into two backing parts. They tried hard to create a rock sound with the correct balance of dynamics and expression on the instruments.
