World Book Day

The first Thursday of March each year is World Book Day and at HCPS we celebrate with our own theme day. These have ranged from 'Bedtime Stories' to 'Heroes and Villains' to 'The Vocabulary Parade'. The children (and staff) dress either in the theme or as their favourite book character and spend the day engaged in reading activities. The morning usually starts with a 'Let's Learn Together' session with parents, grandparents, siblings and carers joining us for a variety of reading-related tasks.

Some of the wonderful feedback is below:

"I have loved seeing my daughter in her school environment. Seeing how she learns helps me reflect this in how I help her at home. It’s nice to see her settled and happy."

"I have really enjoyed seeing my daughter in her classroom and joining in with the activities. I’d love to come to more sessions! It’s great to see how capable they are!"

"I just enjoy these mornings watching your children work. It’s the nearest thing to being a fly on the wall!!"

"I had a wonderful morning with all of the children! I thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities and even designed my own Little Miss. These learning together mornings are a fantastic way of engaging with my child in school and his class. The whole session seemed to be enjoyed by all. Thank you."

"The morning has been engaging, interactive, enjoyable and motivating for all involved. The task appealed to everyone and the time spent with my child in class is valuable and time well spent."

"It is lovely to come and join in with the school day and see the things my daughter enjoys doing. It is nice to see that the children enjoy reading books as well as talking about them and taking part in activities."
