Key Stage 2 Chair Drumming!

As one of their Music home learning and classroom activities this term, all Key Stage 2 children were given the activity of chair drumming. This involved using different parts of a chair as a drum kit and a pair of sticks (or similar if at home) to play a drumming rhythm to a Queen pop song. Children used the Musical Futures website with fantastic interactive music and rhythm grids to help them to play their music. Other music activities they were given from this website included playing notes and chords on virtual keyboards to pop songs by The Weeknd and Tones and I! There was lots of musical learning in these activities, including learning about beat, rhythm and pitch, notation and performance skills. The children who performed the activities at home and at school really enjoyed them.
