Hornsea Music Festival 2019

2019 Hornsea Music Festival Overview

What a pleasure it was to watch the children of HCPS perform at the Hornsea Music Festival at Floral Hall. The children enjoyed fantastic performances from two other schools, St Marys Primary and Brandesburton Primary, before taking to the stage. Our children, ranging from year 3 to year 6 looked so very smart in their bright yellow t-shirts, almost like honey bees in a hive, working together and what a wonderful buzz they made! Led by Mrs Swinden, coached by Mrs Burton and accompanied by one of our ex pupils, Max Joy, they started with “Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang.” There were some talented soloists and some most entertaining choreography. This song had many of the audience members tapping their feet and bobbing their shoulders.

The second song was “Sing” by Gary Barlow, a superbly contrasting song that was sung with such emotion, a pin could have been heard, if dropped. The children sounded so unified, making a fantastic sound that filled the building. It is very clear to see, the amount of time and effort that is put into such a performance by both the children and the teachers, and to perform in such a formal setting can be most challenging. As in the words of Gary Barlow, “There's a place, there's a time in this life, when you sing what you are feeling, Find your feet, stand your ground, Don't you see right now the world is listening to what we say?”

A huge well done to everyone involved in the performance, we should be very proud of our children and teachers.

A quote from Mrs Joy

We have many talented children who play instruments such as guitar, drum kit, piano and keyboard!
